Barcelona! (Sept 23, 2009)

To our beautiful totties!!!

Weve almost been in Spain for a month and it is absolutely amazing! having 5 a phi sisters here too is definitely a major plus ;) we miss you dearly and all say hiiii !!

This last weekend Heather, Katie, Anne Stewie and I went to Barcelona. It was so nice to be by the beach again. We spent our days being cutie tourists taking millions of pictures, walking EVERYWHERE, and enjoying tapas. At night we danced away in the discos admiring the Spanish night life. They stay out until 6 in the morning..is that healthy??
Our most memorable site was La Sagrada Familia. They started to build the church in the mid 1800's and its expected date to finish is 2026!! is that totally unreal or what?! There are currently 4 towers and in the end there will be 12 wowwww. Gaudí's architecture is so detailed and the church itself is enormous.. no picture does justice. Maybe we can all go back and see it when its finished hehe.

Besitos and AOE,
Heather and Sachi

ps. I found myself singing A phi chants on the bus to school this morning. I guess I miss my sisters. Cant wait to see you guys in Jan!

Morocco! (Semester at Sea - Sept 13, 2009)

The boat arrived in Casablanca in the morning. We went to the Mosque in the morning - it was like nothing I have ever seen, I found it more interesting than the cathedrals in Spain. I might have been more mesmerized with the Mosque because I have never been in one. In the main area it could hold 500,000 people, when the Muslims practice women are not allowed on the main part. This part the Mosque also had a convertible top that could be open to the sky. 1/3 of the Mosque was built over the Atlantic Ocean. We were also able to see the Turkish bath; which was gorgeous. Our group decided to immerse ourselves in the culture and try their famous tea with some Hookah. (Hookah is just flavored tobacco, don’t worry). The tea was a mint flavored that was so sweet! It was the best tea I have ever had. On Day 2, We did some research and decided to go to Marrakech; which was a four hour train ride from Casablanca. We booked a riad to stay in for two nights in the center of the shops. A riad is like a bed and breakfast in the states. We decided we wanted to do something adventurous; we were on a hunt to find camels! We got in taxis and had them take us to camels. They dropped us off at a busy intersection that had camels on each corner (so random). We each paid 10 dollar for a 30 min camel ride. My camel was pregnant and named Latima. We got some great pictures! As you can see, we are all having a blast, but we miss you guys so much! Hope everything is going well!

Love and AOE,
Brittany
